Who is Pane di Miliano
The name Pane di Miliano translates from Italian to English as “Bread from Miliano”. My mother’s maiden name was Massimiliano shortened to Miliano as my grandparents felt the name was too long after immigrating from Italy. Home cooking, baking, making tomato sauce and wine (eating and drinking together) were all important part of my family’s life.
I chose Pane di Miliano to reflect my love and appreciation for family and their tradition of family gatherings around food and continuing to prepare and share bread that brings comfort and nourishment to others.
I started this small bakery as people kept asking me where they could buy my sourdough bread. For the past couple years I’ve been baking sourdough bread for the Golden Magnolia Sanctuary (GMS) in Fairfield, Iowa. This has been a labor of love as GMS is a rural resilience hub with a pay as you may, plant based community kitchen.
From time to time people have asked me where they can buy my bread. At first I declined their requests. Only recently I’ve decided to make sourdough bread by special order. If your interested in my sourdough bread my contact information is on the page titled, “Where can I find your bread”. Thank you for your interest.
